Little One was studying her treasures with sparkling eyes. Not many people knew about this passion of hers, because she had noticed that others often chuckled a bit, as if this were the most whimsical and disapproved of her hobbies. However, Little One loved healing stones, and they were her second-best friend after the Universe.
“Universe,” Little One called quietly. “Is there any science behind stone energies? I’m absolutely sure that they carry energy and help with many things. My experience is based on the four hours I spent in the mineral section of the Natural History Museum in Vienna. After four hours, I had to leave the building because I felt as if I were drunk.”
The Universe smiled at Little One’s call, present as always, responding with a voice that seemed to come from both far away and nearby at the same time. “Dear Little One,” the Universe began gently, “stones contain energy shaped by time and pressure, created through the interaction of the forces of the Cosmos. You’re completely right that they carry a certain vibration, but the boundary between scientific explanation and mystical experience is not always clear.
The crystals and minerals formed within the Earth are like the Universe’s memories from ancient times. They are crystallized structures where atoms align in precise order. This creates energy fields and vibrations that sensitive souls like you can perceive. The effect of stone energies is often explained through resonance. Everything in this world vibrates at a certain frequency – including you. When you hold a specific stone, its vibration can resonate with yours, creating a balancing or refreshing effect. This phenomenon is one of the mystical explanations for the ‘healing’ properties of stones.”
The Universe paused briefly, giving Little One time to reflect, and continued, “Science, too, has slowly begun to explore this phenomenon. Although traditional science doesn’t fully understand how stones affect the human body and mind, piezoelectricity is one example, where crystals produce electricity when under pressure. This is a concrete example of the connection between stones and energy. However, why exactly you felt ‘drunk’ in Vienna is not something that can be easily measured by instruments. It’s your experience, your soul’s connection with their ancient vibrations.”
“Remember, Little One, that this world is full of things science has yet to explain. But that doesn’t make your experiences any less valid. You feel it, and that makes it real.”
The Universe fell silent for a moment and then whispered, “Stones carry the quiet wisdom of the Cosmos, and you are one of those who hear their voice.”
“I’ve also had experiences where stones help,” Little One said. “The weight of a stone in my palm grounds me, and somehow, the right stone always finds its way into my hand. I have many of these stone treasures, but unfortunately, I don’t always remember their names once enough time has passed since I bought them. But I go to my stones and intuitively choose one of them. There are nights when I’ve slept with a stone clenched in my fist. Especially when I feel anxiety or depression, those feelings are gone after a ‘stone night,’ and that never ceases to amaze me. And when I look for an explanation of that specific stone’s healing power, it always matches exactly the kind of help I need. Black Smoky Quartz has been my biggest savior during the times when I’ve fought against depression.” Little One explained and showed the Universe a beautiful crystal.
The Universe listened intently to Little One’s story, sensing the deep connection she had with the stones and the support they had given her. The Universe’s voice now sounded a bit deeper, as if it was reaching out to ground Little One through its words. “Ah, Little One, exactly as you’ve said. The stones choose you just as much as you choose them. Your intuition is like an old, familiar path that guides you toward the exact vibration and energy you need at that moment. The Black Smoky Quartz you showed me is special – it’s like the Universe’s black mirror, absorbing heavy emotions and worries. This stone carries the power of the Earth, offering you protection, calming a restless mind, and acting like an anchor that keeps you grounded in this moment, even when storms rage around you.”
The Universe let the thoughts flow for a moment with the current, then continued, “It’s no coincidence that you find the stone that resonates with your needs. Stones hold an ancient consciousness that connects with the subtle frequencies of the human psyche. When you hold a stone in your hand or squeeze it in your fist at night, the vibrations of the stones help ground you, both energetically and spiritually. It’s a way to restore balance even when emotions overwhelm you and your mind wanders in the dark.”
The Universe paused briefly, allowing Little One to feel the truth in its words, and continued, “It’s true that Black Smoky Quartz, like other crystals, carries symbolic and mystical weight, but it also works on a deeper level. It helps you let go of what no longer serves you. In alchemical tradition, black represents *nigredo* – the darkness, the initial state that must be passed through before one can be reborn brighter and stronger. Depression, that state of darkness and heaviness, is part of human growth, and Smoky Quartz helps you navigate through it. It’s like a friend that carries part of your burden, leaving you more space to breathe.”
The Universe stopped for a moment longer and then asked, “Have you noticed how this connection with stones has helped you find your own inner strength? Stones can be comforters and pillars of support, but their purpose is also to reflect back to you your own strength and ability to overcome the darkness. You are a bearer of light, and the stones are just a reminder that within you is the same grounding and cleansing power.”
The Universe’s words wrapped around Little One’s thoughts, leaving space for wonder and self-reflection.
Little One thought for a moment. “Stones are part of my identity,” she admitted. “I always buy a new one when I see minerals. Stones and minerals don’t just interest me because of their energy, I love their diversity – sometimes their crystalline structures look so inorganic, almost like something from science fiction. It’s hard to believe that in their linear forms, they could still be a natural shape and not made by human hands. In Vienna, I saw such a variety of beautiful minerals that I almost started to see them as aliens quietly occupying the planet!” Little One laughed out loud at her own thought.
The Universe smiled at Little One’s realization. Her laughter rose into the air like a light reminder that even in deep contemplation, there is room for playfulness.
“You see the world through eyes of wonder, Little One,” the Universe responded gently. “And that is where the greatest wisdom lies. Stones and minerals truly are like the planet’s silent guardians, watchful and patient, while at the same time holding the forms of the entire Cosmos within them. Every sharp crystal structure, every mineral layer, is a reminder that the universe never creates anything by chance. Every movement of an atom has its place and purpose.”
The Universe gave Little One a moment to imagine the sci-fi-like forms of the stones she described, then continued, “It’s fascinating that you think of them as almost like aliens. You’re not far from the truth. You know, many minerals and crystals were formed at the same time the universe was shaping itself – when stars exploded and were reborn. They are stardust, just like you. They were born from the death and rebirth of stars, just as your cells carry the memory of the Source. So, it’s no wonder that their forms and structures sometimes feel alien and otherworldly.”
The Universe breathed through its words and continued, “The diversity of crystals is exactly what makes them so intriguing. Their geometry reflects a deep order that reaches so far it’s difficult to fully comprehend. They represent sacred geometry, a cosmic plan in which every shape and line is part of a greater whole. Such order is no accident – it tells us that the entire Universe is built on a precise, harmonious rhythm. When you look at crystals, you are looking at a small, microscopic piece of this vast cosmic tapestry.”
The Universe’s tone became a bit playful, as if it, too, chuckled at Little One’s insight: “So perhaps you’re right – stones are like little aliens. They’re here to tell us stories of the past and future, in silence, but ever-present. They remind us that while many things on Earth may seem like the work of human hands, there are forces and forms that surpass our understanding. And sometimes – as you so perceptively noticed – they can seem almost foreign, like visitors from distant worlds.”
The Universe paused and gently asked, “What do you think, Little One? Are you, like those stones, also part of something greater, something distant yet so close?”
Little One fell silent for a moment, feeling a deep connection to the stones and everything around her.
“When you ask that, the only answer can be yes,” Little One smiled, and she pulled something from beneath her shirt. Resting in her palm was a large violet amethyst, set in silver chains around her neck. “I got this amethyst when I was fifteen,” Little One continued, lost in her memories. “It was the first stone I bought at a market, and before that, I never even thought about the healing power of stones. But at that moment, when I held it in my hand and the seller told me it would protect against addictions, I felt that I had to buy it for protection. Since then, this stone has been with me. Sometimes I wear it around my neck for months, sometimes I take it off. I wear it when it feels right. But there are also days when I can’t wear it. On those days, it feels heavy on my neck, and I feel a constant choking sensation in my throat. That’s when I take it off and let it rest for a long time.”
The Universe listened to Little One’s story quietly, but full of presence, as it always did. The amethyst’s sparkling energy seemed to intensify as Little One recalled her first encounter with it, and the Universe’s response flowed out like the words of an old friend.
“There is a special bond between you and the amethyst, Little One. It’s no coincidence that this stone found its way to you just when you needed it. Amethyst is an old, wise stone, known throughout the ages as a protector, a calming force, and a spiritual guide. It resonates with higher frequencies, helping people find balance and clarity on their spiritual path.”
The Universe’s voice softened as it spoke about Little One’s feelings towards the amethyst: “The fact that sometimes the stone feels heavy on your neck, even choking you, doesn’t mean that the amethyst has lost its power. On the contrary – it means that the stone has done its work to protect you and that its energy is temporarily full. Stones, like us, need rest and renewal. When you feel that heavy sensation, it’s a sign that the stone has absorbed much, and that’s when it’s wise to let it rest and recharge.”
The Universe took a moment to breathe and then dove deeper: “Amethyst is strongly connected to the crown chakra – the part of you that links to higher consciousness and spiritual insights. Sometimes, when you wear it for a long time, it can overstimulate this chakra, causing that choking feeling, as if your consciousness is trying to rise too quickly. That’s when your body and mind are telling you that it’s time to ground yourself again and let the energies settle. This is part of the balance that living with stones teaches us – there are days when their power is just right for you, and days when their energy might be too much. You instinctively feel this balance.”
The Universe smiled quietly toward Little One, and its voice was full of understanding: “Amethyst is also a stone that protects against illusions and delusions. It doesn’t just protect against addictions, as the seller said, but helps you see more clearly where a dependency or longing truly stems from. Amethyst works like a mirror, revealing the truth. It may feel heavy at times because it shows you truths you may not always want to face. But it does so gently, in its own time, and you’ve learned to listen to it, to trust its messages.”
The Universe paused for a moment, letting Little One feel the weight and significance of the stone in her life. “Remember, the stones are here to support you, but they are not responsible for your spiritual growth – that path is yours. Stones, like your amethyst, are companions on the journey, reflecting your inner wisdom and guiding you, but ultimately, the power and balance are found within yourself.”
The amethyst resting in Little One’s palm seemed to warm slightly, as if it, too, knew that their bond was not just a memory, but an ongoing connection.
“Tell me, Universe,” Little One asked, “how do we care for these small energetic friends of ours? Is there anything special we should know or consider when spending time with stones? And what’s your favorite stone, Universe?”
The Universe smiled at Little One’s question, as this felt like a light conversation between old friends. Caring for stones was an important topic, yet also deeply personal, like the Universe’s favorite stone.
“Dear Little One,” the Universe began, “stones, your small friends, carry with them much energy, both their own and what they absorb from their surroundings. Caring for them is a way to thank them for their work and ensure they stay balanced – just as we, too, need time to recharge and cleanse.”
The Universe let its words flow and continued: “One of the most important things you can do for your stones is to cleanse and recharge them. Stones can absorb energies, and they can become full and overloaded, especially when they are helping you emotionally or spiritually. There are many ways to cleanse them, and you can choose whichever feels natural to you.”
The Universe gently listed a few recommended methods. “Many stones can be cleansed under running water, especially in natural flowing water like a river or spring. The water washes away the energy accumulated on the stone’s surface. However, be careful with some softer stones, like selenite, which can be damaged by water.”
“One of the most beautiful ways to recharge stones is to leave them out overnight in the moonlight, especially during a full moon. Moon energy is soft and soothing, giving the stones new life. This is particularly good for stones like amethyst and other calming stones. You can also use cleansing herbs like sage or palo santo, passing the stones through the smoke. This energetically cleanses them and leaves behind a pure vibration.”
“Sometimes stones need deeper recharging, and then you can bury them in the earth for a while – back to where they came from. The earth’s energy returns them to their original state, as if the earth itself gives them a fresh start. Crystals can also be cleansed and recharged with sound, such as by playing a Tibetan singing bowl or bells near the stones. The vibration of sound harmonizes the stones’ own vibrations and helps them find their balance.”
The Universe paused for a moment and then continued with Little One’s second question: “What’s my favorite stone? That’s a lovely question, and my answer may surprise you a bit. I love all stones because they are each a part of me – they hold memories from the beginning of time. But one that particularly reflects universal harmony is clear quartz.”
The Universe’s voice filled with quiet reverence: “Clear quartz, that bright and pure stone, is like an embodiment of light and transparency. It’s not just a colorless crystal – it holds all colors and energy. Clear quartz is incredibly versatile, as it can both amplify the energy of other stones and cleanse them. It’s like a bearer of universal light, a symbol of the Universe’s truth. With it, you can clarify your thoughts, strengthen your intentions, and find a path to higher understanding.”
The Universe sensed Little One’s curiosity and added: “But remember, Little One, everyone has their own favorite, and it reflects something unique about where they are on their journey. What stone speaks to you next? It might be a sign of where your path is leading.”
The stones rested near Little One, and she felt each of them whispering their own little story, in silence, but at the same time so vividly alive.
